Rachel had a big study to oversee in North Carolina, so she packed up the little one and headed out there. Her parents were awesome enough to drive down to help out with Ada while Rachel was making science happen. They also brought lots of baby stuff to make things easier (carseat, high chair, pack and play). It was a two week study so too long for mom to be away from baby.
We got a really nice 2 bedroom place at a Residence Inn. Ada liked the full mirror closet doors.
Ada was pretty happy most of the trip. She was working on her top two teeth so had a rough time at night, but loads of fun during the day.
Ada's eating continued to improve. Mormor was good at training with the finger foods (puffs). Here she is enjoying some kiwi with her pureed peas. By the end of this meal she did have a piece of kiwi in one ear...
Mormor and Morfar's bedroom was actually up a loft, so Ada decided to climb stairs for the first time. We have stairs at our apartment but they're tucked back in the corner and she hasn't found them yet.
At some point, she made it up about 6 stairs. Lots of fun.
Morfar and Mormor had some fantastic new toys, the ipad and yarn! Hopefully Ada didn't manage to purchase or delete anything on the iPad. Mormor was nice to let Ada play with the yarn even though it meant knitting in some pretty soggy parts.
Ada also was more interested in books than she has been and started sitting through them and trying to pull back flaps. Hopefully that continues!
The weather was a little extreme during the two weeks (for those of us from San Diego anyway). The first week it was pushing 90, so we thought it was really too hot to take the baby around too much, since the forecast for the following week was for 70s. But when the second week came, it was pretty cool and drizzly. We eventually did get out and went to the Duke Gardens despite the threat of rain. It was really nice though.
