Palm Springs Break

The Johns family rented a house in La Quinta (Palm Springs) for spring break this March. It was a great trip. We picked it for being the nicest weather in the country that week, and we did pretty well! It was a tad too hot one day but generally pretty great.

We got there the day before Easter so we started with a morning egg hunt!
Megan the good sport happilydoing an egg hunt with preschoolers and toddlers!

Where are the eggs?

I'm good with a ball, thanks though.

Ooo, I found one!

hurry and get it!!

The haul.

Still happy just with the ball.

Do egg hunts involve basketball hoops?

whew, resting after the hunt.

This ended up being a few days later, but we dyed and decorated a bunch of eggs too as part of our egg case Costco purchase
After the egg hunt we went to Ted and Marietta's condo for a nice brunch. It was great to see them and nice that we visited Palm Springs just before their move to Arizona!

pretty dresses and pretty roses

3 happy bunnies!

And one sleepy bunny
One day we went to the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. Nice place; kids enjoyed it.

Ada likes riding on Daddy's shoulders

The highlight for Ada and Kira at least was the playground. it was a neat one.

Claire and the cactus slide

We all got caught in the big spider web!

On Tuesday we drove a loop through Joshua Tree National Park. It was a lot of fun though we weren't prepared for how cold it was especially during lunch and at the high point. We were pretty much all wearing shorts. Oops, bad hosts for not checking the weather!

Kira may have managed to stay warm at the lookout
Most of the rest are hiking and climbing, don't really require captions.

Too many pictures of Seth and Ty, but this one is actually a picture of a water bottle so it doesn't count.

Kira and Ada actually climbed up through some big rocks; they were brave and it was fun

The rest of the pictures were from the house we rented in La Quinta. It was great, might have to go back some day!

Mormor distributing Goldfish snacks

Conveniently there was a nice double stroller in the garage, so Claire and Seth got to ride around and get a few twin comments.

One of the playgrounds in the neighborhood had exercise equipment!

Steps are the best! Spanish steps right by the cool ice cream place we went to. They freeze cream and flavor for you on the spot with liquid nitrogen.

Great stuff for kids, another garage find that got a lot of use

Kira got to see if she likes scooters!
Seth trying out the scooter in a different way

Bubbles!

Little Green Peas!

Very unique tub in the master bath, big enough for everyone!

Cute matching girls

Outdoor messy dessert and Popsicles!
